Career Coaching

Career Coaching Services is  comparatively a new field; however, it has  gained significance for helping students develop their potential to the maximum and make appropriate career decisions. A well-planned programme organised by trained personnel could be useful in facilitating students' career-related decisions. 

The Career Coaching Services are being offered in three areas:

  1. School students studying in school from 8th to 12th standard, and University Students 

  2. Schools: Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary level

  3. Working Individuals 

National Career Development Guidelines (NCDG) Framework has provided certain indicators for students under three domains: Personal Social Development (PS), Educational Achievement and Lifelong Learning (ED) and Career Management (CM) content. Under each domain there are certain goals (eleven in total). The goals define broad areas of career development competency. In the area of career development  some of the goals suggested are: 

The high school and university students should be able to ;

 

  • recognise that career planning to attain career goals is a life long process.

  • develop a career plan to meet career goals

  • identify short- term and long-term goals (education, employment and  lifestyle goals)

  • re-examine career goals and adjust as needed

  • identify skills  and personal traits needed to manage career

  • demonstrate career management skills

  • recognise that the changes in the individual and labour market can affect career plans



 

Therefore, the our career coaching services aims to provide an opportunity for the students to integrate the knowledge about the self, knowledge of labour market and other important factors and put that into actual practice of career choice and career management.
 

Thus, the focus of our career readiness programme  would be to  empower individuals in career management skills by–

 

  1. engaging  them in activities, group  discussions, workshops and presentations    

  2. learn and practice  various study and employability  skills 

  3. preparation,  planning , execution and evaluation of career roadmap

 Career Coaching is a developmental process that helps individuals identify their career goals and navigate professional challenges, often focusing on action-oriented strategies for achieving those goals. It helps individuals discover their strengths, set career goals, and overcome obstacles through reflective questioning and goal-setting techniques.It emphasizes personal development, self-discovery, and empowers the individual to set and achieve their career goals. It's more collaborative and person centered , focusing on long-term development and professional growth of an individual.

 

Career coaching involves  conversations and dialogue where the coach helps the individual reflect, identify personal values, and set goals.The focus is on understanding internal factors such as personal aspirations, mindset, confidence, and skills development.The coach acts as a facilitator, helping the individual unlock their own potential and come to their own conclusions.

 

Career coaching helps individual in   personal transformation, enhanced self-awareness, and personal empowerment to make career decisions and succeed in achieving goals.Individuals become more proactive in their career choices, often improving their professional skills, confidence, and performance.

 

The coach acts more like a facilitator and motivator, helping clients         clarify their goals, overcome challenges, and stay accountable to their career aspirations.Coaches typically don’t delve deeply into emotional or psychological issues but focus on practical, actionable steps to achieve career success.

Overview of the purpose and objectives  

The purpose of this career coaching services  is to provide individuals with assistance in identifying their strengths, interests, and abilities, and making informed decisions about their future careers. It aims to help students understand themselves better by knowing more about their aptitudes, skills, and potentialities, as well as the opportunities available in different fields of careers .
